WHAT DO WE DO?
Weddings. Limiting that to just wedding stationery would be a blatant understatement. If you can dream it, typically Marisa can find a way to do it. She's been known to design and paint fabric, work with wood, sew custom bean bags, hand-made paper flowers, and the list could go on. If you want fireworks to come out of your invitation, we can do that (well, not really, but if you know an engineer...)!
We create custom design that will never be re-created and certainly will never just put your names into something that was designed for someone else. Your wedding day is typically the most special day of your lives, and your stationery should reflect that.
To see the work in action see weddings past.
. . . . .
LOVE the style but don't want to fork out the dough for custom work? Marisa is in the process of curating and designing a collection of super special + beautifully crafted, ready-made invitation suites. They will include the option to supplement your invitations with coordinating day-of pieces, just in case you want everything to be cohesive!
MARISA SCHAAF, owner + designer
I began Blue Glass Design in 2012 while I was still in art school. I was designing my own wedding invitations when I found my passion. A passion for beautiful, well curated paper goods. A passion to create something tangible, and a passion to create something that will bring such joy to people's lives.
In 2017, after a year long hiatus (to become a mama), Blue Glass Design became Blue + Q. I've grown so much as a woman and have explored so much more of the world since I started my business, and I wanted my new brand to reflect that. My sweet baby boy, Quinn, made me a mother, and he inspires me every - single - day.
The name and logo design of Blue + Q was inspired by my original business, my new baby boy and the beautiful Balinese batik I've seen on my travels.
WHAT IS THE INVESTMENT?
Since all of the designs are custom, that's hard to say without asking you a million questions. They need to be evaluated on a wedding by wedding basis. A basic invitation suite with flat printing starts at $1500 USD or $2015 SGD.
HOW FAR AHEAD DO YOU START DESIGNING?
We are living in the days of pinterest - which means the ever evolving wedding day vision. That being said, we start our initial design meetings no more than a year in advance.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Beauty and good design takes time. Upon receipt of your deposit, a timeline will be created for you outlining exact dates you can expect your pieces to be proofed, completed, shipped, etc.
HOW DO I KNOW I WILL LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE CREATED?
Trust. Just kidding, proofing. We start off with a variety of designs based on how focused your vision is. We do three rounds of edits with all custom work. That means, we ensure that everything is perfectly perfect in every way before sending it to print.
I DON'T LIVE IN THE U.S. OR SINGAPORE, CAN WE STILL WORK TOGETHER?
Of course! We've got this "working at a distance" thing down thanks to technology. However, I do always recommend that you have a wedding planner if we will be working from afar.
DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM ORDER?
Yes. Due to the fact that every last detail is created by hand, that really limits the number of projects Blue Glass Design can accept per year to still ensure a high quality of work! A cumulative order of $2000 is required to start work.
DO YOU DO BRANDING FOR BUSINESSES?
Definitely! We've worked with wedding planners, photographers and various business owners to create an attractive, warm and welcoming brand that is very appealing and inviting to clients of all sorts!
